| At Ocean Beaches Glass, glass pieces are
hand-blown (sometimes called “mouth-blown”) with use of the “off-hand glassblowing” method. I create a variety of hand-blown glass
floats, which are popular in this area because of the large numbers of glass Japanese fishing floats that used to be found on our beaches. My hand-blown glass
vases and bowls are all guaranteed to be one-of-a-kind, and are made in a variety of color combinations to fit any decor. I also creates a variety of hand-blown
paperweights, glasses, and wall hangings.
Custom orders are also accepted, in case you’d like to see a particular piece in a different color scheme or a different shape. Custom work for entirely different objects are considered, and so far I’ve created custom hand-blown items like glass
light shades and burial urns. The Memorial Orb is an item you’ll find only at Ocean Beaches Glass (see “Services” for details). Ashes of a loved one are completely enclosed in a solid glass sphere, with just a gentle wisp of color added in an overlying layer.
Ocean Beaches Glass was established for the purpose of creating high quality, absolutely unique art glass. At the same time, I believe that the glassblowing process itself is what constitutes much of the wonder and beauty of art glass, so I operate the shop in a way that allows visitors an unusual level of access to the process. Much of my enjoyment of the craft comes from sharing what I’m doing with spectators while I’m working.
Ocean Beaches Glass is located in Seal Rock, OR – right along the Pacific Coast Highway (Highway 101), in what’s known as Oregon’s “Central Coast” area. This entire part of the state is a great place to visit, and a visit to our shop can really top off your trip.
