Glass Floats

Blown Glass

Hand-blown glass floats are popular in this area, largely because of the numbers of glass fishing floats that used to wash up on our beaches. Glass floats had been used by Asian and European fisheries for well over 80 years. Most come from Japan, China, or Korea, and were made in many different sizes, shapes, and colors. Many of these glass floats would break loose from their nets and float for years driven by winds and currents to eventually cross the Pacific Ocean and wash up on the coast of Oregon. Although glass floats for commercial fishing haven't been made since the 1960's, generations of beachcombers still delight in finding these glass treasures that have traveled so far and for so long.

Bob creates Floats in various sizes - the 3-4 inch "mini-float", the standard 6" size, and a variety of other sizes all the way up to 12-14 inches in diameter.
